After having a long week of early mornings and late evenings at the office, I made the decision today to work from home. It allowed me to get a much needed extra 2 hours of sleep this morning after I dropped our youngest son, Malachi, off to school. Once I woke up, I brushed my teeth, washed my face, made me a delicious hot cup of coffee and then I got at it on my laptop. After an uninterrupted and very productive morning of catching up on e-mails, finishing up some assignments, and approving some operating expenses my morning was complete. I decided that I would surprise Malachi by picking him up from school and taking him to eat & play at the new Chick-fil-A that just opened in our neighborhood.

Normally, I take Malachi to school in the mornings and my husband picks him up. So, it is always a treat for him when we change things up with either our oldest son, who is a college student, picking him up or even better...Mommy! When I went to pick him up today, his teacher said "Wow Malachi, look who it is?!" He came running out of the school full force with the biggest smile on his face and I have to admit it gave me the best feeling! As we walked to the car, I told him that we were going to go to check-out the new Chick-fil-A and he totally lost it breaking into full celebration mode.

We arrived and he could not wait to jump out of the car and head in. Upon our arrival there was a lady that greeted us and handed him his very own mini Chick-fil-A cow. He selected his meal of choice, 4ct nuggets kids meal of course, and then immediately headed off to play in the kids play area. It was so amazing to just sit there and watch him play, he was having the time of his life!

It is times like this that make me wonder what it would be like to have the ability to do this every day. However, I then remember that what makes this afternoon so special is that I do not and he knows this. All of his life, all 5 long years lol, he has had a working mom that he knows loves him dearly and works to provide for him and our family.

So, when I have the opportunity to take off a few hours early or work from home I must remember days like today because it is truly the little things that make the most amazing memories for them!

Enjoy the little things...they become the big things that really mattered.
